“The process [to create this image for Issue 6] took over one year to complete. It was the most tedious and time-consuming work that I have ever attempted in my career. I documented the painting in process at every stage. There are about 20-30 photos showing it's progression. The early ‘sketching’ stages of the painting are very important to a piece with this much detail. I used a grid to capture every single detail in perfect order. It is a machine-like way of working that still allows every mark to be created by hand.”
